چکیده
The network-based visualization of large photo-realistic 3D landscape and city models has received significant attention over the last five years in the computer graphics and network community. To make such 3D geoweb services appealing to a large audience, 3D city models must reach a sufficient level of realism and faithfulness. The first problematic was the transmission and visualization of such complex models that required the use of view-dependent, compact and progressive representations. The combination of a multiresolution footprint based representation called PBTree [Royan et al. 2006] associated with a procedural based modeling of facades [Mueller et al. 2006] has proved its great efficiency for 3D geoweb applications. Secondly, the procedural modeling of buildings from real world acquisition is not so obvious. Therefore we will present next a solution to determine the structure of facades, in order to model real buildings using a procedural approach. Only the image based acquisition will be considering next, due to its low production cost and storage requirements.

View-Dependent Realtime Rendering of Procedural Facades with High Geometric Detail
We present an algorithm for realtime rendering of large-scale city models with procedurally generated facades. By using highly detailed assets like windows, doors, and decoration such city models can provide an extremely high geometric level of detail but on the downside they also consist of billions of polygons which makes it infeasible to even store them as explicit polygonal meshes. Moreover...
متن کاملUser-Assisted Inverse Procedural Facade Modeling and Compressed Image Rendering
We take advantage of human intuition by encoding facades into a procedural representation. Our user-assisted inverse procedural modeling approach allows users to exploit repetitions and symmetries of facades to create a split grammar representation of the input. Terminal symbols correspond to repeating elements such as windows, window panes, and doors and their distributions are encoded as the ...
متن کاملBeyond Procedural Facade Parsing: Bidirectional Alignment via Linear Programming
We propose a novel formulation for parsing facade images with user-defined shape prior. Contrary to other state-of-the-art methods, we do not explore the procedural space of shapes derived from a grammar. Instead we formulate parsing as a linear binary program which we solve using dual decomposition. The algorithm produces plausible approximations of globally optimal segmentations without gramm...
متن کاملGrammar-based Encoding of Facades
In this paper we propose a real-time rendering approach for procedural cities. Our first contribution is a new lightweight grammar representation that compactly encodes facade structures and allows fast per-pixel access. We call this grammar F-shade. Our second contribution is a prototype rendering system that renders an urban model from the compact representation directly on the GPU. Our sugge...
متن کاملNew Techniques for Automated Architectural Reconstruction from Photographs
We investigate a strategy for reconstructing of buildings from multiple (uncalibrated) images. In a similar manner to the Facade approach we first generate a coarse piecewise planar model of the principal scene planes and their delineations, and then use these facets to guide the search for indentations and protrusions such as windows and doors. However, unlike the Facade approach which involve...
